Dawson was very excited to be at Community Connections and he was very excited to start making art. He began with some paper and markers for his sketchbook cover. Immediately Dawson went for the red marker, his favorite color and started drawing a basketball, his favorite sport. As Dawson drew he told me about his love of basketball, how red was his favorite color and how excited he was to attend Colorado State University someday, amongst other things. Dawson quickly finished his sketchbook cover then added his name and had fun gluing it to the cover.

THE END OF A JOURNEY
Dawson was particularly concerned that it was our last day and spent quite a bit of time thanking everyone for letting him be a part of the program. Dawson began the lesson by heading outside to the courtyard with the rest of the group to do some chalk art. He really enjoyed the time outside and doing artwork with everyone. After a while Dawson and the group headed back inside because it was a bit chilly and later started to rain. Upon arriving in the classroom Dawson spotted some masks that one of the other classes made during their session and asked to a make a mask as well.
